
Cupar Sub Aqua Club is a branch of the British Sub Aqua Club. Below is the level of grades that BSAC offer and which we have divers trained to within Cupar Sub Aqua Club: |

BSAC Ocean Diver: This is the entry level grade. This course provides you with the essential knowlege and skills needed to prepare you for open water diving. It starts off in the swiming pool then takes you into open water in a safe and controlled manner. As a qualified Ocean Diver you are allowed to dive to a maximum depth of 20m. BSAC Sport Diver: In the Sports Diver training, the emphasis is on building a sound foundation of open water diving skills and experience. You will learn more comprehensive rescue skills. When qualified you will be ready to take part in dives with other Sport Divers or those with higher grades. BSAC DIve Leader: At this level of qualification you will be required to show considerable dive management and rescue management skills and be competent in organising and leading diving groups. You will be allowed to dive to a maximum depth of 50m. BSAC Advanced Diver: This Grade requires the diver to have considerable diving experience and have developed their skills to a level which enables them to organise and lead diving expeditions. By this time you will have additional experience in managing diving in a wide range of conditions. BSAC First Class Diver: At this level the diver is required to have a higher than average level of theoretical knowlege and personal diving skill. First Class Divers havea broad range of planning experience and are capable of planning, organising and leading advanced level dives. This grade is a nationally conducted assessment.
If you are already qualified from another recognised organisation you can cross over to a BSAC qualification. The table below shows the qualifications that are considered to be similer standard to BSAC.
The Branch Diving Offier has responsibility for the saftey of all Branch Members. If the DO feels that the skill of a new member, originally trained by another organisation, are lacking, the DO has the liberty to require the member to undertake appropriate refresher training and/or limit their open water activities until a satisfactory level of skills performance has been demonstrated.
